As a dynamic region, French-speaking Switzerland hosts a Polytechnic School (EPFL), 4 Universities (Geneva, Lausanne, Freiburg, Neuchâtel), as well as the University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland (HES-SO) and its 28 campuses. Lausanne, a major city of 140,000 inhabitants, is home to 11 schools counting around 35,000 students (in total). In addition to the Ecole Polytechnique de Lausanne (EPFL) and the University of Lausanne (UNIL), the city also welcomes internationally renowned universities such as the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), the Ecole Cantonale d'Art de Lausanne (ECAL) and the International Institute for Management Development (IMD). Location to the creation of the World Wide Web back in 1989, Switzerland can truly say that it has been dynamic in the digital domain for a number of decades. Digital companies develop products and services in extremely diverse domains, ranging from cybersecurity, fintech, digital health, smart factories and cities, to wearable technology and e-tourism. In this exceptional landscape, there is a black spot: the low number of new computer science graduates. These skills are now more than necessary to support the entire economic life of French-speaking Switzerland. Today barely 500 new higher education diplomas are issued each year in computer science, which is notoriously insufficient to meet local needs. The 42 Lausanne Campus will add value to the already existing educational panorama with a complementary offer. It is not aimed at the same audience as the existing programs and will deliver annually 200 new professionals, ready to enter the French-speaking IT market and around. Why chooses Lausanne? This city in French-speaking Switzerland, is equidistant from most of the main cities and is easily accessible by public transportation. Our campus will be located only 15 minutes from the main train station, making life easier for our students and avoid housing costs as much as possible.
