About 42 Lyon

42 Lyon was born from the wish of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, along with some of its economic actors, to become a major pole in the digital economy. As technology advances, more and more, companies struggle to hire skilled developers. The right move to compensate for the growing demand for competent staff was the creation of a school that is open 24/7, free of tuition fees, without any diploma criteria, in order to train students to become qualified, creative, adaptative men and women developers. That’s why 42 Lyon, according to the 42 model in Paris, was created, seeing its first promotion take place in november 2017. New skills, new professions, redesigning of traditional jobs are a few of the new needs of the digital transformation. To respond to this new need and to recruit new talents, schools from the 42 network challenge the rules from the traditional education and offer a new learning method which develops personal soft-skills. With its pedagogy 42 Lyon offers an original, projects driven, peer-to-peer communication aimed at mastery of computer code in different fields : 3D, system, security, blockchain,... Ideally located in the greeny suburbs of Lyon, the school is part of the Region Digital Campus. This latter gathers innovative schools, and offers them a range of services that are essential to employment, growth, and digital transformation in the Region. 42 Lyon has the advantage to be independent, with its own premises, and at the same time to be a part of this digital hub, with all the synergies, partnerships, cross-schools and cross-companies projects existing and yet to come. Since its creation in 2019, the Network 42 has been gathering dozens of schools all over the globe, allowing their students to move from one school to one another once they have validated the first part of the cursus. Of course, 42 Lyon is part of it, and more than happy to be able to welcome students from abroad.
